We are in the process of mailing out new branded cards to all members with an active ATM card (Used within the last 6 months). You will receive 2 envelopes. One with your new branded ATM card and one envelope with your new PIN. You will need to contact the CU to activate your new card.
All new Energy CU ATM cards have Interac contact chip capabilities and Interac Flash®. For your protection there is a transaction limit of up to $100 per purchase made using Interac Flash®. If your purchase is above this limit, you will be prompted to insert your Energy CU Debit Card and enter your PIN. As an added layer of protection, there is also a cumulative spend limit of $200 for Interac Flash® transactions. This is the sum of all contactless transactions made with your card since the last time you entered your PIN. When this limit is reached, you will be asked to insert your Energy CU Debit Card and enter your PIN. This will reset your limit so you can continue to use Interac Flash®. Please note that some merchants may choose to set their own lower contactless limits. To activate the Interac Flash® technology you will need to complete one Interac contact chip transaction and you are good to use the Interac Flash® on your next transaction.
Interac Flash® is a safe and convenient optional feature. You can choose to use this feature, or you can insert/swipe your card, and enter your PIN as you did before. Interac Flash® uses secure chip processing to protect against skimming, counterfeiting and electronic pick-pocketing. Interac Flash® also uses RF (Radio Frequency) enabled smartcard technology, which is more secure than RFID (typically used for inventory management). These features, along with the Interac Flash® limits and the need to enter your PIN when the limits are reached make this a very secure solution. Additionally, transactions are covered by Interac Zero Liability, which protects you against unauthorized activity on your accounts.
All Energy CU ATM Cards starting with 6294410067 and 5076001067 will no longer work in the US effective 1 August 2018 and they will expire and no longer work in Canada after 31 October 2018. Members should begin using their new branded ATM cards with their new PIN as soon as you call to activate.
If you have the New Energy CU branded ATM card, and you would like to change the PIN you received with your new card, come to an Energy CU branch to change your ATM PIN or you can find another participating CU close by at the following link: http://www.everlink.ca/pin-services-locator/ and you can change your ATM PIN in branch there, or at any Exchange or Acculink Machine (if you have the PIN issued with the card).
