Many Toronto Hydro employees and retirees are currently navigating a change to a new benefits provider from Manulife to Blue Cross. While any transition can feel unsettling, especially when it involves healthcare benefits, reimbursement claims, and direct deposits, we want to reassure our members that they don’t have to manage it alone. We understand that for many members, the challenge isn’t simply updating information. It’s adapting to a new process after years of doing things the same way. Change can be frustrating, and it’s natural to have questions or concerns about whether everything has been set up correctly. At The Energy Credit Union, we’ve been serving the Toronto Hydro community for generations. We know that many members rely on the security of familiar faces and trusted relationships, especially when dealing with important financial matters. That’s why we’re committed to supporting our members throughout this transition.
If you have already provided your banking information to the new benefits provider and completed the required steps, there may be nothing further you need to do. However, if you’re unsure, have questions, or simply want peace of mind, we’re here to help. Sometimes all it takes is a quick conversation to make sure everything is in order.
Unfortunately, periods of change can also create opportunities for scammers. Fraudsters often take advantage of confusion by sending emails, text messages, or making phone calls that appear legitimate.
As a reminder:
- Never share your online banking password or security codes with anyone.
- Be cautious of unexpected calls, emails, or text messages asking for personal or banking information.
- Don’t click links in unsolicited messages unless you are certain they are legitimate.
- If someone contacts you claiming to represent the benefits provider and you’re unsure, contact the provider directly using a trusted phone number.
One of the greatest benefits of banking with a credit union is having real people you can speak with when questions arise. Whether you need help confirming your banking information, understanding direct deposit details, or simply want reassurance that you’ve completed the necessary steps, our team is here to support you.
We’ve been proud to serve our members for decades, and we’ll continue to be here whenever you need us.
