Bare Trust Reporting Requirements: A Reminder for Members

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced that certain bare trusts may be subject to T3 trust reporting requirements for taxation years ending on or after December 31, 2026.

Because every member’s situation is different, The Energy Credit Union cannot determine whether these reporting requirements apply to your accounts, assets, or ownership arrangements. If you hold property, investments, or other assets that may be subject to trust reporting rules, it is your responsibility to consult with your accountant, tax advisor, or legal professional. We encourage members to review the CRA’s guidance and seek professional advice well in advance of year-end to ensure they understand any potential filing obligations.
