In the past few days, our Credit Union has been seeing an increase in the number of brute force attacks attempting to gain access to Energy CU Members Online Cyberbanker. A brute force attack means scammers try various combinations of usernames and passwords again and again until they get in or until they reach 3 failed attempts, likely using sophisticated automated robo-like password generators, which then triggers the Credit Union security systems to revoke access to protect our members. This means that your account is secure and our security is acting as it should, but it also means that you have to reach out to us to regain access to your account. We do realize that this is disruptive and inconvenient for our members.
We have been stunned by the level of patience, politeness, and gratitude shown from our members in these unprecedented times. It has made our job of helping members regain access to their accounts, much easier to navigate, we are truly grateful for each of our members who bear with us through longer than normal phone queues and wait times.
Thank you all for your understanding!
