Start saving those Pennies!

Consumers may soon be paying $.05 per grocery bag when they go shopping. Grocery retailers across the city are hoping that this will eliminate the amount of plastic bags that are going to landfill sites by deterring shoppers from getting the plastic bags, and perhaps finding a more environmentally friendly option. I for one won’t be feeling the crunch as I have been paying a nickel per bag for some time now from the stores that I purchase from. Despite having an entire drawer at home full of plastic bags, I still choose to pay the nickel to add to my collection. Perhaps I should move those bags from the drawer to an area in my trunk, so they are always available and reuseable. Other options include the Eco-Friendly bags or paper bags. Do you agree with this change brought on by grocers? Is this taking money from those that don’t have it into the hands of those that do? Will this really help our environement by opening the eyes of consumers into using alternatives? Have your Say!
