For those that haven’t heard, the Canadian GST has been reduced from 6 to 5. This could equal considerable savings on larger scale items purchased in Canada. Some retailers may innocently not remember to change their system to include this new tax rate, and some may maliciously be keeping the tax rate at the same 6, and pocketing the difference. Make sure that you check your receipts for the next little while, and make sure you are paying the correct amount of GST. If it is incorrect, talk to the manager of the store and have it corrected right away, and get the difference back in your own pocket.
