Day of Discovery – TEUCU Fall Bus Trip

A Day of Discovery lead to great fun and an interesting historical tour of Northumberland county for our 2nd Bus Trip of 2009! Despite weather that didn’t co-operate at moments throughout the day, a little rain couldn’t keep TEUCU members from having fun! After a very informative driving historical tour of beautiful Cobourg, we made a stop at a local apple producer Moore’s Orchards. Here we got a taste of the local apple industry and the delicious wares they had to offer. Homemade apple delicacies and fresh picked apples were on sale at great prices, many of our members took advantage! Our next stop was at Arthur’s restaurant for a delicious carvery buffet. Although we could have stayed all day sampling the delicious dishes of this amazing buffet, we were soon off again! Another short historical tour of Cobourg led us to Hoselton Studios in Colbourne, home of the buffed aluminum sculptures.

TEUCU members were treated to wonderful discounted prices on all of the beautiful figurines and sculptures as well as a special treat from the studio itself! Before heading back to the city, we had one more stop at the Burnham Family Farm Market. Our members were very excited to purchase locally grown fresh produce and other delectables like jams and homemade bread. There were also some lucky draw winners on this trip! All throughout the bus ride we held draws for gift cards for our lucky members. Sandy Scott, Felicitas Doi, Bernice Palichuk, Mary Lemieux, Herve Carrier, Edith Vallena, Farida Sattaur and Louise Godfrey all won gift cards and Cathy Turvey won a Triple Berry Jam fresh from Moore’s Orchard’s! Special thanks goes out to Lori Williams and our bus-driver Wayne, from Parkinson’s Tours. Wayne’s expert driving was tested many times throughout our day as he weaved his way in and out of tight places for us. Keep an eye out for TEUCUs next bus trip, likely to be held in the spring!
