Beginning September 30, 2008 members will be able to sign up for the National Do Not Call List. The list is a nationwide registry whereby people are able to sign-up so that they will no longer receive unsolicited telemarketing phone calls at home.
The following calls are exempt from the National Do Not Call List:
1.) Charities
2.) Political Parties
3.) Opinion polling firms or market research firms
4.) Newspapers calling for the selling of a subscription
or whereby consumers already have a business relationship with the calling organization.
